Hi all

asked this question before but no one got back to me on it. How do i change the character length for the signature users have, it is only 200 characters at the moment but i would like to make it longer, which asp component do i change to correct this problem

You change the javascript for the head of the HTML page in the file register.asp.

Also you may need to increase the amount of data read into the strSignature variable in the same file.

ok i have changed the max amoutn of characters to 500, but it still does not work, sorry what else do i have to change?

i too have tried this myself. i have checked the database to see if i could edit something there but i cannot. i have also edited the scripting to allow for 500 charictors but it will still only allow 200 charictors in the signature.

i think that if it is so hard to edit the length of signatures, could you add in a signature length editor in the admin area so that you only need to change a number value there instead of having to edit the script.

You may need to change also register.asp, look for the INPUT TEXT html text box for the sig which might have set a MAXLENGHT of 200, therefor not allowing more than this chars to be collected.

Also the Sigy field on the DB is of type NTEXT with a lenght of 16, NTEXT data types are variable-lenght unicode data, so I don't think there's a problem here. But if all else fails try to change from 16 to 32.

Just do a "find" for 200 in register.asp and replce that number with what you want.
 
Be sure to edit signature_preview.asp as well
