Why do you want to trace it anyway? Why don't you just email them back and ask for their phone number?

Atlanta again is one of the Bellsouth hubs so how can you be sure? It could be from the Carolinas to Florida. There is just no way to get that info, No ISP would give you that info. Search for this email address on yahoo or whois databases maybe you find something...

I cannot ask them for the phone number because the email was sent using Hotmail.

I know that Bellsouth is in Atlanta. This wasn't the ISP. I am not sure if anyone would be familiar with this ISP. Before it showed the IP Address on the tracking feature that I used, something like atlanta-asx-1.anywhere.net showed up. I am not going to reveal the ISP.

OK, that does not make much sense, Hotmail or not you could reply if it is that important to you but anyway; if it was sent via a web based email systems your chances are even worse as I would not think hotmail istself is capable of tracking what you used, they would have the check their logs to contact the associated ISP giving it to you, so just forget it....there is virtually no way.

i thought hotmail used its server IP as the Origin IP

or your own, if you put it on Outlook

 

but like people keep sayin... "EMAIL THEM!"

why is this so important?

I too want to track phone number from IP. I've an IP of a person who was putting anonymous posts on my guestbook. I dunno now how to track his number. I gotto know his ISP :(
