Troubleshooting speed issues

I have been having major speed problem since migrating to WWF 7.9 from 7.01.  speed will improve greatly if i switch back to 7.01 so i know it isn't my servers.. plus they are dedicated.. 1 for IIS and 1 for SQL 2000.

What is the best tool to use to troubleshoot this problem?  Borg i understand you say it should be faster, but bottom line it isn't and i'd like to find out why so i can resolve it and continue to enjoy the improved security of 7.9.

as it is my 7.9 has less mods than my 7.01 and it still runs slower. 

so far i've turned off page statistics, teh fancy editor, forum statistics and that hasn't made any noticible difference.. i've even disabled the search founction for a while and it doesn't seem to impact it (i thought someone might have been running a search over and over again).  the sql server is dual processor so i would apprecaite any SQL server settings tips you guru's may have to offer..

i've got them off now as i'm trying to turn off most everything i can to make it bearable..  the page that seems to have slowed down the most is default.asp..  it used to take anywhere from 0-10 seconds during the worst part of the day... now it can get over 60 seconds and timeout...

also in your previous post you mentioend 2 db's.. they are one in the same.. i had a second 7.9 when i was testing, but i converted my 7.01 to 7.9.. so when i "switch" back i just replace the old files and use the same db.
