My ISP wants to upgrade the web server to a win 2008 server on my homepage tenere.dk
I'm therefore testing the homepage on a new server.

Most of my forum works fine in test, but when creating a new post (

I think the problem is related to the ODBC driver upgrade and the definition of the field "message" as "text" in the database  tblthread. What is the correct definition of that field?
The upgrade of ODBC is from 3.5.1 to 5.1.

I have tried to install a new brand ny version 9.7 of the forum, to see the field definition, but that gives my a a lot of other problems, so I would be very happy, I someone could help me?

Kind regards

Since 2008 Web Wiz Forums has been developed on Windows 2008 64 bit, so the setup you have is the recommend setup for the mySQL version.

As you are having to change the driver from 'MySQL ODBC 3.51' Driver to 'MySQL' it means that the myODBC 5.1 driver has not been installed or not correctly installed on the server.

By changing it to the 'MySQL' driver it means that you are not using the myODBC 5.1 driver for mySQL and instead using an old generic driver which is not supported and will give errors.

You need to contact your web hosts and inform them that their is an issue with the installation of the myODBC 5.1 driver.

You also need to make sure that the app pool for your website is running in 32 bit mode as this is the recommend settings that Microsoft gives as it gives improved compatibility, performance, and memory management.

Hi Bruce
Thanks for you reply.
I think that you are right about the ODBC 5.1 driver and are having a long dialog with the support team at my ISP.
The app pool is running in 32 bit.
I have another MySQL/ASP application running on the same server with no problems. Do you have any idea, why my application is running and not all of the forum. The connection parameters are the same? Both apps works perfect on an windows2000 server with ODBC 3.51?
Kind regards

You need to have installed either the myODBC Driver 3.51 or 5.1 installed on the server.

If you install the x64 version it will install both 32bit and 64bit versions. You can also run myODBC Driver 3.51 and 5.1 side by side on the same server. When you set the driver you simply put in what version of the myODBC driver you want to use.

Without the myODBC Driver 3.51 or 5.1 driver installed on the server the forum will not run and you will get error like you are experiencing.

You are absolutely correct. There is some kind of error on the myODBC 5.1 driver on my my homepages server, but I got them to install a 3.51, and now is everything working perfect again.

Thanks a lot
