One of the major reasons I bought the package was to get the uploads to work. I have run the forum package for sometime; but when I built a new server here at the house and the software was installed I found a couple problems.

1) only 2 of the upload providers are even still somewhat in business

2) when I install aspupload from persistant I get an error of a 76 character key (and it shows as installed in web wiz)

3) Dundas which was my standby for years doesn't seem to register in webwiz

So here is the problem, is it because of Dundas changing hands or update that it is not being recognized by webwiz... and more to the point can anyone help with getting me an upload component that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and will work with webwiz?

This is severely effecting my site which is dedicated to a gaming clan, and has caused me days of annoyance. I have never had this problem before.

One more thing, it doesn't seem to register in the components either (neither one of them) ..

Running Windows 7ultimate with IIS and SQL..

Please let me know if someone has the older dundas that works or if there is a solution; I am running out of hair to pull.

The first issue that you will probably hit is that you are running Windows 7 Ultimate which is a consumer OS and is therefore limited to 10 concurrent connections with further connections queued up, which means any more than 3 or 4 simultaneous visitors and your website will slow down. You should be running Windows Server instead which does not have this limitation.

You did not say if you are running x86 or x64, I presume x64 as no-one would run x86 these days. With IIS running on x64 you need to place the application pool in to 32 bit mode in order that ASP components can work correctly. This should fix your issues with Persists and Dundas.

Persists AspUpload is the best upload component by far so if you can get this working it would be recommended. I am not sure what you mean by a 76 chatacter key, maybe a license key? What ever the issue Persists support should be able to point you in  the right direction.

 Thanks

About 1/2 way through the reply I realized the mistake I had made. Yes I should be running a proper server; but it is primarily for my gaming clan and web storage for friends.

Thanks for getting back to me.. I beat my head against the wall a lot then see the answer and realize I should have known that.. live and learn.

I am trying to get rid of the File Upload button in the RTE_setup.asp page but it is not listed (that I can see). What is it called?
