    Posted: 13 March 2008 at 1:23am
I am using the newest version in demo mode, I am finding users are getting logged off if they post a reply or topic, and it also happens if you use the back button, i tried it here as far as the back button goes and I was logged off on this site too.

Running on IIS and ASP of course and using IE 6 for browser.

Any ideas what is up ?

I believe the forum config as for cookies and such are at the defaults with no mods to those settings.

Thanks

Never heard of anyone ever being logged of by hitting the back button, are you sure your browser isn't caching the page? Try doing a refresh.

I personally suggest not use the back button when in a application like that, use the built-in navigation.............. but I've never had any issues like that with the forum, unless it was our HOST, the OLD host, and their session resets.......

This sounds to me an application pool refresh issue at the server end. I had similar experience with a bad host.

My most used button in my browser is probally the back button, so there should be no problem with using it within Web Wiz Forums.

Just clicked back a couple of times to get back to this page, and am still logged in Smile

Would be pretty lousy if the back button logged you out so easily.

Just a habit - I work a lot with web forms and web applications, and the back-button can get you  into trouble with those, post data, etc. etc.
It works fine in the forums here and always has, but I simply prefer the navigation at hand.
Now, if I am browsing the "most recent posts", and view one, then just want to get back to that active topics list, I hit back. No problems. then it's easier as I go right back to the list of active topics and nothing is refreshed. That's where I will use the backbutton.
This forum, well, since I've started poking around back in v7, has never caused me such issues.
I agree with the session reset diagnosis, or a local issue on the PC, as there's sure no problem with the forum itself.......

It could be a cookie issue with the site setting cookies also, if you see an SID= with a long string after it, it means that cookies are not being set correctly.
