I have an existing site that has 600+ members and I would like to utilize this great product.  I have my members in an Access Database.  After I install and customize 7.5 to my likings, Is it possible to simply write an asp script to loop through my members and run it through the asp script that processes a new member's application in 7.5 so I can add all my members and exisiting passwords?

Any suggestions would be appreciated, I just want to add members to startup forum without them having to regeister.

Yeah. You will have to make sure the passwords get encrypted correctly though.

It shouldn't be too hard as long as you know your way around with ASP. The password encryption functions are in the file functions/functions_hash1way.asp. Make sure you understand what each of the fields in the tblAuthor table means before you start (AFAIK, this is the only table you will need to add info to).

Good luck,

Thx for these insights. I have just about got my ASP script completed. I have tested a couple of times and have "Imported" existing members and got past the encrytion issues. I also am adding fields that I use locally.

You are correct, it is not that big a deal with asp and knowing the Access DB layouts. But the REAL secret is how well the initial code is documented.  Nothing but professionalism throughout this product.  The whole script is in Register.asp and once you understand the documentation you are off to the races.  A little bit of work, but it saves me from asking my 600 members to re-register.  I can only imagine what you more successful users do with larger member databases.

I couldn't agree more - I have learnt so much from having this software on my site.

Absolutely true, I knew nothing about ASP till I downloaded version 6.1 of this forum and sat for two days working out what each section did.

Easily the best software on the web for a newbie without doubt!!
