Web Wiz Forums Windows Server 2008 Support

A few people have asked if Web Wiz Forums runs in Windows Server 2008 and IIS 7, and after testing with Windows Server 2008 RC1 in the lab we can confirm that Web Wiz Forums will run on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

With IIS 7 ASP is not enabled by default so you will need to enable 'Classic ASP' for the web site.

Notes for Windows Server 2008 x64
Windows 2008 Server x64 comes with a 64-bit SQL Server database driver, however, for Access and mySQL please read the notes below to enable support for these databases.

Microsoft have not released a JET Access database driver for the x64 version, and it looks like they will not be.

The myODBC database driver for mySQL is not yet available in 64-bit versions.

If you are wanting to run both the Access and mySQL versions of Web Wiz Forums on the x64 versions of Windows Server 2008 then you will need to 'Enable 32-Bit Applications' for the web site's application pool. This will allow the 32-bit database drivers to work.

You will also need to do this if you are using 32-bit versions of email and upload components with Web Wiz Forums.
