    Posted: 11 May 2004 at 5:22pm
I'm writing this post to demonstrate an interesting problem I've noticed
using Web Wiz Forum with Safari (Apple's default browser). My
paragraphs get pre-wrapped so, when published, they don't go to the
edge of the page. This doesn't happen with Mozilla's Firefox (on Apple) so
it must be something peculiar to Safari.

As it goes the first line above will be wrapping at "noticed" which is the
last word on that line as I write it in the text box.

Any ideas? I'm happy to help test.

I posted a message elsewhere and noticed that this is still a problem.

I've just posted another message elsewhere on the forum and noticed a
critical problem with this bug. It can be very difficult to post a URL. Here
are some examples. The last one works because I fit it all onto one line in
the reply box.

Please do a search of the forum as this has been posted on with a fix for Safari users.

I had a really good look and couldn't find the fix.

It's there, do a search for Safari and you should find it.

It's to do with the way the HTML text area is set-up for the text box.

Safari doesn't stick to the standards and sends text to the server with line breaks inserted at the end of each line.

Apparently they have altered this again in the latest version coursing even more problems.

The best option for a good browser on the Mac is to use Mozilla as Safari does have allot of issues that they need to get sorted before it is a viable browser.

Mozilla is a clunky user experience compared to Safari so changing to Mozilla is not an ideal solution.

And there is one glaring problem with the "Safari is naff" thesis. This text-wrapping problem doesn't occur on any other forum I know of, or any other text input form for that matter.

I think I found the thread you're talking about, but it seems to be unresolved:

No it's not that topic.

You need to edit the file includes/message_form_inc.asp and change the text wrapping for the HTML textarea:-

Around line 307 change the wrapping for the textarea to:-

wrap="virtual"

This prevents Safari from sending the text to the server with line breaks.
