Yaa new to the forum building to have on my soon to be website and ran into a problem.

Im a stupid person when it comes to finding a program for a forum for my website i tryed google and download.com cant find a easy to use forum. Im not to smart with this web stuff so any help would be cool. Is there a program that can be customised to my site?

But when it comes to photoshop I am good so if you need something done in it let me know.

umm if you want a forum then go to: http://www.webwiz.net/web_wiz_forums/forum_download.as p?mode=forum

if you need the IIS to run the forum, get a host that supports ASP

maybe http://www.webwiz.net/hosting/default.asp

umm urrr

yeah no offence, but yeah your a newbie alright

umm Geocities doesnt support ASP or anyfin like that as far as i know

if you have a free geocities account then try moved it to www.brinkster.com BUT they only allow 5files at once upload - no FTP so it'll be a pain to upload the forum

and you dont install it like a program on your computer, you just upload the files to your server (site)

change the location of your database, and thats it BUT you have minium requirements, like IIS/ASP etc

try reading these two links:

  1. http://www.webwiz.net/web_wiz_forums/docs_menu.asp?mod e=forum
  2. http://www.webwiz.net/web_wiz_forums/forum_specificati ons.asp?mode=forum

If you'd wanna go with a technical and functional better solution, I'd take Scotty's advice. If it's your own forum, then you're the boss.

But there are of course several free forums available (including the needed webspace) which you could either link from or incorporate in your website. For this and other freebies, here r some starting url's

http://www.freecenter.com/ , http://www.webmastertoolscentral.com/ , http://www.1000websitetools.com/ , http://www.hits4me.com/

One that offers a nice forum, although some banners have to be displayed is at http://www.dream-tools.com/

Depends on what you're actually looking for, wanna be the boss yourself and have full control, then go with Scotty's advice. If you don't wanna hassle with code, installing/tech maintenance and server reqs then go with a free forum.

lol, quite a nub yes, but hé, 5 years ago, me to

Now, the forum, use WebWizForums, it works ok, and you can run it on a IIS server, wich is faster and in my opinion better than Apache.

// n00b note: Apache and IIS are the most used webserver's at the internet

Hosting? Well, the ones named work fine, for free, but I found a VERY cheap and good host named serverpro. Not really a shocking name, but they have a very fast connection and ton's of webspace.

Little problem there, since they use Apache (Linux server's), so when you need a forum in PHP, use PHPBB.com. You see that forum all around the internet, but it is highly customizable (weird word).

// n00b note: PHP is a coding language in wich sites are coded. You can see wheither you're dealing with a PHP coded page by the extention of the page, wich is *.php instead of ASP (*.asp, *.aspx)

Gone..

I'd say the easiest thing to do is get a forum from:
www.bravenet.net

The forums from bravenet r okay, but u shuld learn how to set up forums urself, it isnt very hard.

On the otherhand, WWG forums shatters bravenet to pieces. They alse come w/ good instruction, so if you take out an account from brinkster.com it shuld be easy enuff to set up.
