i've seen some strange stuff... one of my best computer repairs in my opinion was about half a cup of peanut butter in a computer (on the motherboard: DON'T ASK HOW THAT HAPPENED)

when i worked for PCServiceCall  (the dixons and freeserve customer service centre) i had some great, well not so great phone calls.

i recieved phone calls at 2.30 in the morning from people complaining their PC wasn't worknig correctly.. turning out they were drunk and getting their TV confused with their PC.

other notable calls include..

Me: Hello, PC Service Call.. how can i help?
Customer: i'm trying to turn off my computer. the screen went blank and now it says 'it is now safe to turn off your computer'.. shoulds i turn it off?
Me: No! you must leave it for 30 min or you may damage it.
Customer: Really? oh.. ok.. thanx

Me: Hello, PC Service Call.. how can i help?
Customer: i am trying to install this program. and it says i should click next to continue. i'm not sure what to do?
Me: click next.
Customer: you mean the little square that says next on it?
Me: yes.
customer: thankyou! it worked.

and they were paying £1 a min at  the time. i can't remember most of the stuff anymore.. it was about 4-5 years ago..

Well you just need to read this forum and you see what kind of questions are asked ... I think a lot of ppl still have a "scare factor" about computers. I have been in some way working in a support department for over 10 years now and personally answers that make fun of a customer discust me. People pay money to get support so no matter how "off" the question may be, they deserve an honest answer/ Now it may be somewhat different for free support when people just get to lazy and someone hopes they get it done for free, they sometimes deserve a humorous answer... In that matter it would be nice if Bruce would mark "paying" customers somehow, giving them a member title so they are distinguishable.

Another one i solved pretty easily was my friend's computer was shutting down unexpectively... i told him it was probably the battery, he didn't listen... he sat on customer service for 3 hours just for them to go through all their diagnostics and to give him the same answer
