WIMP Server >:-) New stuff!

I've finally transferred all my web sites and things over to my new WIMP server 

For those that dont' know WIMP, first, there was LAMP:

L-inux
A-pache
M-ySQL
P-HP

Then there was WAMP:

W-indows
A-pache
M-ySQL
P-HP

And then there is WIMP:

W-indows
I-IS
M-ySQL
P-HP

Anyways, I've got it up and running and things seem to be pretty smooth - http://renegademinds.com

Well, it runs WIMP, but I'll of course be doing most stuff in ASP.NET. I'm not a total masochist!

My old host was just screwing everything up. Pages didn't load, they'd have downtime for "upgrades" or whatever and never tell anyone. Support would fix the same problems again and again and again and again - and never say what the root problem was. Now at least things will get fixed properly - Cuz I'm doin' it! No more f**k ups. (Cross fingers...) Or at least no regular F-ups.

So true! Windows servers are just SOOO much easier to deal with. Compare configuring Apache with IIS, or development speed with ASP.NET and PHP.

I've just got PHP on there because there are so many PHP applications out there that it's difficult to ignore them when you want 'X' or 'Y'. Some entire classes of applications are only done in PHP or the Windows versions are very expensive. Hopefully .NET will change some of that, but honestly, I see that happening as some classes of applications are generally only used on Linux because you can squeeze more web sites and more CPU cycles out of the same hardware.

It's nice to have more options... even WIMPy options ~!
