I probably will not be moving across till I am satisfied that the driver problem is sorted.
I remember moving to XP it took almost a year for some companies to get stable drivers out, and Microsoft products like office keyboards ect. seemed to be the worse.
Lets hope that it doesn't take this long with Vista as it maybe 2008 before I even consider upgrading.

So far I have not had a problem with any drivers. It accepted even my rather excotic Saitek Joystick as well as some non-standard Monitor calibration devices. Plus so far the compability feature to run as Windows XP SP2 works very well. I was not able to run Nero 7 on Vista but it runs like a charm in Windows XP mode.

I installed the 64 bit edition and it doesn't seem to accept most of the drivers required, not even my laptop's internal soundcard. It won't even allow my antivirus to be installed so I re-installed XP pro back on the laptop. I'm thinking of getting the Vista 32-bit instead. I thought that the 64 bit would accept both, the 32bit apps and 64bit apps but it won't... once you get used to the 64 bit processor performance you'd never wanna go back to the 32 bit.

Have you tried NOD32 as AV.. (www.eset.co.uk) or www.eset.com
They have a 64BIT Windows XP version, and apparenly it does work in Vista (32 and 64bit versions

Yes avast have it too, but why would I want to buy a new antivirus subscription... what about other drivers like for the sound card, webcam, 32-bit apps, etc.. I guess we'll have to hold on for the 64 bit and use the 32 bit for now.
So what difference do you notice in Vista? like speed/performance.. is it much better than XP? I don't see a difference... and those annyoing messages that pop up everytime you try to install something as if something serious or unathorized is happening which will scare the hell out of novices...

Good I'm feed up of having to sort out computers for novices who haven't a clue what they are doing and insist on installing stuff they shouldn't, uninstalling AV software, then downloading illegal music, and then get upset when their computer has to be wiped because it has so many viruses it no-longer works.

you got a point
Yesterday at work I got a call from a customer who says: "I went to Start and Run, I typed: regedit and a window came up, I deleted some stuff in there and now my PC won't boot up"
That call made my day!
