im planning an upgrade to ubuntu linux, i jast dont need windows any more

I've played around with Unbuntu and belive it is the version of Linux i like the best.

Altho i will stick with windows for software compatability reasons

I installed the latest Vista RC1 build onto a fresh machine today and i can honestly say it blows the other builds off the map.
 
Everything was installed and ready to go with all  drivers fine and ready to go. this was old hardware as well so i was suitabley impressed.
 
The speed is so much better and the stability so far is much much better.
 
I'm thinking i may be upgrading sooner rather than later now.

How much memory is Vista using with a fresh install now?

I have 2GB on my comp and when i tried Beta2 it was using close to 1GB on a fresh install.

Clocked it at 500MB idle but with AVG running

Sorry Maddog my mistake i had further background stuff going on.
I now have it settled with AVG control center, IE7, Live messenger and notepad running and its running at 15% of 2GB memory.
 
It seems to have leveled out at this figure

Mine does not run that high on idle, I have 2GB 5400 RAM and at idle with Cillin and Live Messenger running (using Aero) it roughly hovers at 5-7% with some spikes for processes.
