WWF times out a lot after upgrade from 7.9 to 10

	Ever since I upgraded from WWF version 7.9 to 10 the forum has had issue with script timeouts that I can't explain. Has any one else had this issue or know how I can solve/investigate? Thanks.

	Version 10 performance wise is massively improved since version 7. If you are seeing time out issues then it points to resources issues with the server that you are using. You did not say what database type you are using on the exact time out message so it is hard to pinpoint further for you where you should be looking.

	Sorry I am using an Access database. I'll wave to wait until it times out again to get you the exact mesasge. The database size is about 250MB now if that matters. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

	At this point I'm assuming I'll need to convert my Access database to MySQL since I've been reading that an Access database of this size should not be used. Although I'm still confused as to why it seemed OK with the old WWF version 7.9. Some questions: 1) Which of the Access to MySQL converters has been proven to work well with WWF? 2) Is there a way to estimate what the file size will be of the MySQL converted database? 3) Is there an easy way to tell WWF to use the new MySQL database instead of the old Access one? 	Your Access database is far to large and would cause issues. Access and SQL Server versions use a Relational Database Schema and use very similar data types. mySQL is not a Relational Database and so uses a different schema and it also has very different data types. We also tend to find that the myODBC driver required for Cliassic ASP to connect to mySQL can be very buggy and throw some strange errors. We also tend to find mySQL falls over when getting to around 300MB and becomes corrupted quite often. For the reasons mentioned above you would need to upsize your Access database to SQL Server. If you wanted to use mySQL then you would need to start with a fresh install of Web Wiz Forums.

	The Upsize Wizard in MS Access works fine for upsizing most Access database, although it sometimes has issues with larger databases over 150MB. Make sure you compact and repair the database in MS Access before you do the upsize. There is no way to tell the size of the database after the upsize, but generally you would use around 125MB to 175MB for each 100,000 posts. You should shrink the SQL Server Database after upsizing as this will greatly reduce the overall size. Once you have upsized the Access database to SQL Server re-install Web Wiz Forums, select the database version of Web Wiz Forums you have and then select SQL Server from the list of database types. The install wizard will then set the correct settings for the type of database that you are using.
