I see the admin account, but how can I change the password, its all garbled up (encrypted i'm assuming)??? also, I opened up the dbase and put in my email address in the email address column for the admin account and tried to use the forgot password option and it gave me this:
ServerObjectCreateObject: - Error 'ASP 0134 : 80004005'
Invalid ProgID attribute
C:\Abyss Web Server\stuff\webwiz\forgotten_password.asp, line 2757
The object has an invalid ProgID of 'CDONTS.NewMail'.
any suggestions???

ok, I still cant get the password to work, but to save some space I'll ask this here...
I was thinking about converting from snitz to wwg, I did the search and what is meant by comparing the dbases, I am using access 2000 dbase. also, reading some of the old posts, I couldn't find a way of converting snitz to wwg. by comparing the dbase does that mean, I just copy the data over to the wwg dbase and it'll work that way. just trying to get a work around since the admin login isn't working for me for some strange reason.

You can manually reset the password, just register a user and remeber the password. Take the password and the salt value from that user and overwrite the one in the admin fields, that should let you in. For the Snitz conversion, Depending on what version of Snitz you have; the later version has encrypted pwd's itself so it would be hard to convert the users including passwords. The topics and threads can be done with the import wizard, though be careful about the relationships so do it in the right order.

um, does anyone know if this my web server is the problem??? I'm using Abyss Web Server (plz let me know if you know of a different free web server that supports asp and/or php), don't know if that would make a difference or not, but I tried to register and cut n paste the password n salt value to the admin account and it still didn't work. another thing I thought was wierd is that after I registered, I couldn't login as that registered user even though I know it worked, hmmm...
still trying though

OK, just wanted to update this thread just in case someone else uses Abyss Web Server out there. they now have an updated version that WWG forums works with (provided you have ActiveHTML installed with it), I went back to Abyss after I downloaded the update and it works like a champ.
