-boRg-

I received a reply from Robert:

<<< To be able to do this security privs for XPConnect will have to be granted and because it is a dialog it needs to use nsIWindowWatcher...in other words, it isn't trivial. At this time I am adding support for the Mozilla Suite and Firefox Trunk which has consumed most of my time. I will try to take another look at being able to do this after I get the next release out but it may not be doable (at least without a significant effort) due to the security restrictions for accessing chrome.

Cheers,
Robert>>>

Thanks shovel, hopefully there will be someway to intergrate it, as it would be much better if it could be done the same way as ieSpell lanchaes in IE.

Hope you get you placed fixed up

Hello ~borg~

Just got this from Robert from Spellbound.

Jim

I have just released the next version and it has support for spell checking via clicking an element on a web page. To get around the potential security issues all it does is listen for a click event and if the element has an id that starts with spellboundSC (it is case sensitive) it will launch spellbound using the last selected element as the element to spell check. After installing the latest release you can try the example located on the FAQ <http://spellbound.sourceforge.net/faq#q02> page . I am planning another release within the month so if there are some modifications that can be made I should be able to add them for that release.

Also, the next release should support checking multiple textarea, input, and rich text (e.g. midas) elements on the same web page.

Cheers,
Robert

Thanks shovel.

I've had a look at it and it looks like I can add it to a button element in the RTE.

I'll hopefully have it finshed by the end of today and I'll place a beta version on this forum. Big smile

I've added a spell checker button into the RTE editor on this forum, so now if you click the spell check button it it will launch SpellBound in Mozilla, if it is installed.

If it is not installed a conformation box pops up inviting you to go to the SpellBound download page.

The only problem I have encountered is when the button is clicked SpellBound prevents any JavaScript from running that is connected to the button, so I can not set the focus on the message area.

This means that if the page focus is not set on the message area when the button is clicked nothing will happen.

This is not a big deal, but knowing the people who come to this site someone will complain.Wacko

It certainly makes it very simple to add the functionality to the button, so I'm sure this will make SpellBound much more popular.
