Usually when people come and say this it is because the drop down list at the top of the page displaying the topics is only set to show topics that are posted in, within the last month.

The default can be changed in the admin area on the page you put in the forum description, name, etc.

sorry... in this case, a whole thread has definitely completely vanished... could it be a glitch, or would it have had to have been deleted?

either

  1. a moderator deleted it
  2. you deleted it
  3. you did a batch delete
  4. you restored to a backup
  5. or your service provider restored to a back up
those are the ideas that may have happened.
