Web Wiz Forums version 8 Beta 1 is released today. After 2 years of development, many late nights, and over 80,000 lines of new and re-written code, the next generation of Web Wiz Forums is now here.
Web Wiz Forums version 8 has a completely re-written forum engine focusing on speed and performance to build a fast, robust, engine that can handle extremely large communities for both small and busy sites.
The amount of database queries used within Web Wiz Forums has been reduced significantly, with many pages, like the forum index page running with as few as 2 database queries processing the page in under 0.05 seconds, even with over 100 forums and sub forums!!
The HTML used with the forum has been undated to XHTML standards and CSS widely used to make page loading and rendering in web browsers much faster, with the added benefit of simple skinning to change the look and feel of Web Wiz Forums.
There are many other new and improved features, including, sub forums, post authorisation,
Web Wiz Rich Text Editor and
Web Wiz CAPTCHA integration, new technologies such as ‘HTML Secure’ for message filtering of malicious code, and many other features, some of which are listed below:-
