I did some searching on this forum to try to find out how to post YouTube videos on Version 8.x forums, and many of the threads seemed very confusing. People were giving out different instructions, and most of them didn't seem to work for me (or anyone else). Here is what I found to work:
1. Make sure you have Flash turned on in your Forum Configuration.
2. Use the FLASH tags as shown in the code below (I put an asterisk in place of the letter "A" in the tag so you can see the code):
[FL*SH WIDTH=425 HEIGHT=350]http://www.youtube.com/v/omFdpnSu57U[/FL*SH]
Notice the /v/EZ9To30Hz7A on the end of the URL? I tried using the normal YouTube URL that looks like
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omFdpnSu57U, but you cannot use that. You have to scrape the URL out of the "Embed" code shown on the YouTube page next to the video.
Here is the result:
[FLASH WIDTH=425 HEIGHT=350]http://www.youtube.com/v/omFdpnSu57U[/FLASH]
I hope this helps anyone who is searching for this solution on here. It should save you some time searching. Maybe the Moderator can make this a sticky thread so it's easy to find?
