When registering for a new account, how do i stop users from using those symbols (~!@#$%^&*, space)

Just a small comment, no they don't it accepts that perfectly well in version 7.7, I have the same problem.

You would need to write some javascript that could spot these characters before submitting the form.

Have a look on some JavaScript sites for some code that could do this type of thing.
