    Posted: 27 March 2011 at 4:25pm
Since we updated to 9.70, our members do occasionally get server errors when trying to open a PM message.

The error reads ...

Support Error Code:- err_SQLServer_saveSessionItem()_update_session_data
File Name:- functions_session_data.asp

Error details:-
Microsoft VBScript runtime error
Object required

This doesn't happen always; just sometimes.
Updating to 9.71 didn't resolved the problem.

Any idea what can cause this and how to fix it.

Thanks

I'm not sure if this error may be caused by the modifications and surrounding files that you have there. The only way you could establish an error is by running the software without any bells and whistles, and then work back in the modifications and left hand side bar

Thanks for the answer.
Yep, i know that modifications bring risks and issues but when updating to 7.9 i redid the whole thing and files in questions aren't altered (i re-uploaded the files several times as well)

Since the issue doesn't happen all the time i guess it has to do with session writing in the database but i'm not sure what to try to fix it (uploading original - raw forum app isn't an option).

Not sure if it helps; i enabled error logging and these errors are recorded there as well. And .. the only errors that are logged have to do with functions_session_data.asp
