Topic: Help a sick man - please.... Posted: 01 October 2011 at 11:07am |

Viral problem, brain not working, only one eye functioning and loaded with - medically supplied - steroids. I just can't get my head around what should be so simple. Frustrating or what?
Installed V.10 a few months back. Generally well received by my users but increasing complaints about minor bugs. I see V.10.3 seems to address these issues and I want to upgrade our software.
Please, in simple words how do I do it without re-building the forum? Then I can just go back to bed and feel sorry for myself.
Your help - or even your sympathy - much appreciated.

You have not said which database version are are using so can not point you to the exact page with upgrade documentation, but you can find upgrade documentation for each database version on the page below:-

Thanks Bruce. Using My SQL. I will try now.
Bob
Question really is; do I need to do a full install on top of the existing V.10 or do I just change the modified files for V.10.03?
Just not thinking very clearly at the moment.

It's best to replace all the files, keeping your database, then let the upgrade wizard do it's work.
But you can just upload the changed files in the version history:-
However, occasionally changed files are missed out in the version history and without running the upgrade wizard if there is a database upgrade your database would not be upgraded.
We use the method in the upgrade documentation for most of the Web Wiz Forums we host as this method is very fast and only takes 2 or 3 minutes to upgrade each forum.

Thanks Bruce. Updated as per your instructions. All went smoothly but when I checked the forum Admin Control page 'Check for upgrades' to make sure it had installed correctly, it reads:
You are Not using the latest stable release. Instead is shows V.10.01 running. Is this simply a page update or have I done something wrong please.
Kind regards,
Bob

If it says that your forum is running 10.01 version then it means that you have not upgraded all the changed files as the version number is kept in the changed files.

Thanks Bruce - I unzipped all the V10.03 files and thought they had all uploaded. Will have another go and see where it went wrong.

Had two more goes at uploading the unzipped files. All seems to go well and the forum opens correctly but the version number still shows V10.01 instead of V10.03
Admitting defeat and going back to bed. Hopefully it will go better tomorrow
Kind regards,
Bob
