There is no easy way to receive notifications for the entire forum, but they can subscribe to individual threads and forums.
To subscribe to a thread, click on the "Topic Options" of this thread and you will see "Watch This Topic".
To subscribe to a forum,
go to the forum and click "Forum Options" just above the logout button, this will offer the option "Watch This Forum".
Alternatively you can go to the Subscriptions page under the Member Control Panel to subscribe to forums and unsubscribe from threads.
