    Posted: 10 October 2003 at 7:28am

Being new at this I am having a hard time with someone and don't know what else to do, maybe someone can help me.

I have an idiot coming on my board and posting things that are not acceptable, I have blocked the i.p. address each time and added the wild card as well,  I now have a list of 12 i.p.'s for this person and they are still getting in!

The i.p.'s are running real close to each other, I block the exact address then duplicate it except with a wild card at the end, but for some reason they always come up with a new one.

Do people have the ability to change thier i.p. address each time they sign on? Or is that something that happens with some isp's

It's really kind of ticking me off!  What to do?

Yes, people can mask and "change" their IP address if they know how to do it correctly.

Your best bet for blocking users is by redirecting them to a page that makes it look like the website is down or not functioning correctly. that way they will think they got through to the website, but it's not working...

They might not even be that clever, most dial up customers have dynaimic ips not static ips (dynamic ones change each time you dial)

Are you sure about that? My ISP gives me a dynamic IP for my cable modem, but the IP doesn't change for months and months sometimes...

Well this little turd is changing every single time! Making me nuts...I can't get rid of them

So now I have changed the settings on my forum so that they have to enter a valid email address and click the link to join, BUT for some reason my forum has quit sending the notification emails.......

I have tested it and I can send an email to another member through the forum, but the forum is not sending notifications such as to a new member or notify me when someone answers my post.

It was working before, but then suddenly stopped.......any ideas what I need to do to fix this?
