Hi everyone, just wanted to know how I can monitor what my mods are doing..

I.e. what they change or delete..  is there any way i can stop them from doing certain things like changing no of posts?

Yes, this is definately needed on my forum! Is there some way of an email to the admins explaining what the mod did? That would be cool.

Yeah, we have a hard decision coming up ourselves.  We will be adding new forums to our site, but won't have the time to moderate them all.

If we give them moderator rights to the people sponsoring the particular forum, we are giving them a lot of power.

I guess we will have to since we won't have time to moderate everything, and the sponsored forums will have their name on it.  So if they are a dictator in their own forum, then it effects their reputation more than ours.

But I would still like to know what is going on.

I don't know.  You will have to ask Borg.  He's the author of WWF.

I know we will be modifying our board so that Moderators cannot edit people's profiles.

Eventually I will create two classes of moderators:

  • Moderators - They can only edit, delete and move posts.  They cannot edit or delete users.  Also, they typically will only have moderator rights in one forum room, not all of them.
  • Super Moderators - They have all the powers of a moderator including editing and deleting users.  They will typically have moderator rights site wide.

But for now, while we are small, only Administrators can edit or delete users.  Once we get bigger, we will create a class of Super Moderators to take the load off the Administrators.

Oh, another thing.  I am also setting up a group of Facilitators in addition to the Moderators.  They have additional stars and are identified as Facilitators of a forum, but they have no moderator rights.  If they see something, they will contact a moderator or administrator to deal with it.

Kinda like a neighborhood watch where they call the cops if they see something suspicious.

It is also a good way to give someone extra stars and rank without giving them the keys to the kingdom.
