I am trying to help a friend convert over from an access database with webwiz to a MS SQL database, as his forum is becoming too large for access to cope. Is there any way of converting the database, a utility or suchlike?

there are loads of topics on this in the forum...

you can ask the web host to use the upsize wizard in access to move the access database into a SQL database.

Has anyone who has done a conversion ever considered making a "How To" guide for this process? I realize there are a couple of ways to go about it, but this would help eliminate a lot of forum questions.

I have a forum running for a software project with over 6000 active members. I created a specific "How To / Tutorials / FAQ" forum with read-only access to the "normal" users. This way they always have a place to go for answers from the developers, but we don't get as bogged down with redundant question/answer sessions. At the least we can simply point questions to the "How To" forum. The topics are generic enough that they will work on different versions, or they are easily updatable by the admins.

We also include a full help file in the software installation, but like most people the users don't read it.
