Hi there,

I posted in the Classic ASP Section about learning ASP or ASP.NET and they say ASP.NET is the way forward. I have scanned the net for some good tutorials/ downloads. And cant really find anything useful they all have links like Tutorials and Snippets then have great big pages of stuff but no START HERE.

Anyone know of any cool sites/ downloads? And why dont you have sticky topic like in the ASP classic for cool sites!

Thanks

Dave.

Firstly try www.asp.net they have a free asp.net editor, its not as good as VS.NET but its a lot better than notepad

Here are some other sites/links:

I take it you have the .NET framework installed and have IIS?

Mart.

Yeah I have IIS and the .NET Framework, i cant remember when I got it or where - think it was during some other download and it popped up so i thought hey why not!

Right i am going to take a serious look at those sites - no doubt you'll hear from me shortly asking help LOL.

Thanks.

Dave.

www.asp.net has "Starter Kits" for about 5 different types of apps. Load one up and start hacking at it to suite your needs. Good way to jump right in. Each kit has a support forum as well.
Helpful group of people there.

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.

You will have to decide which language suites you best first. There's VB.NET C#.NET (pronounced csharp) J#.NET and C++.NET [you can get more if your prefered language isnt on there, I would avoid using J#.NET because some hosts/clients do not have the CLR installed]

VB.NET = Visual Basic
C#.NET = C++
C++.NET = C++
J#.NET = JAVA
