I have always found FF to be slower than IE and Opera... I don't know where they get their 'faster' part from.
I use a combination of IE, Firefox and Opera. I haven't found any of them to be perfect.

I like the FF extensions quite a bit. The developer toolbar is great but I understand there's one out for IE now.
Always found it slow to load though - definately not faster browsing.
I always validate sites with FF and Opera then tyry to applu the hacks to make yhem look ok in IE. Find it easier to make cross-browser compatible sites that if I designed for IE first then hacked for FF/Opera.
I tried that Avant browser he mentioned a long time ago. Didn't like it, but don't remember why - memory is the 2nd thing to go.

Yes I think that FF is slower than IE, but thats only if you have all the extensions applied. Without them it is fast as you like.

I've tried many of them myself, and none are perfect. I use Firefox 1.5 for some of my browsing because of some of the extentions, but I also use IE 6 as well. Both give me memory problems since I tend to have many websites open at the same time. IE 6 tend to slow down the computer and cause a lot of disk swapping when you have too many browser windows open at the same time, but FireFox 1.5 crashes! I've seen both FireFox 1.5 and IE 6 take up more than 100MB of RAM at times, sometimes as much as 200MB of RAM! Right now I have 4 FireFox browser windows open, one of them with two tabs open, and its already taking up 77MB of RAM. If you use up all of your physical RAM and FireFox disk cache, FireFox will crash.
I used to use Opera a long time ago, but I stopped using it when they discontinued a feature I used (co-branded Opera). I never upgraded and then the old version started having more and more problems with websites. So I went back to IE. Recently I tried FireFox. I think I may try Opera again and see if its better. It would be nice if it would solve my memory problem with IE and Firefox taking up all the RAM.

I'm not sure if it's been update now, I emailed FireFox about it but they didn't really take much notice. When I was writing extensions, you could include and file from an external website and execute it as a script. Theoretically you could change the external script at any moment and use it to collect cookies etc.
