When - Re-sync Topic and Post Count - is done, has anyone had a problem where it crashes the database?

If yes, is there a fix for it?  When I ran it it crashed my database - thank god I had a backup!!

Did you close the forums before you did the re-sync?

I did not.  I am sure that is what caused it...  Thanks for the quick reply.  I will try it again...

I have a question related to this and a follow-on question.

-Related question - What does the Re-sync Topic and Post Count do?

-Follow-on question - What does it mean when it says "did you close the forums before you did the re-sync?"

Thanks-

David

You shouldn't need to close the forums before the re-sync.

The re-sync post count just makes sure the values for the topic and post count shown for the forums is correct, this is often not required to do as this is done in each of the forums anyway when a post is posted.

If you get a crash when you try using the feature it could be a corrupted Access database. If you are using version 7.5 or above use the 'Compact and Repair Database' feature in the admin area.

I know this is an old thread but I think it's the right place for my problem.

I'm using version 7.9 and I've got problems with the forum not showing the correct numbers of topics and posts. I've tried to re-sync but it doesn't seem to change anything - it's still got the max number of ex. topics - meaning that although I've deleted and moved a bunch it still shows the number as if all topics since the launch was still there.

What can I do to get the numbers 'straight' ?

Try compacting and repairing the database from the admin section first.
