Hi guys

I was just wondering if your hoster supported Oracle 10g databases for free, would you be interested in actually developing software/websites using or simply learning it to supplement your existing skills? Or if you were on a reseller package and had the opportunity to sell Oracle 10g services, would you go for it?

thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks
Yash

This is definately not a person version we plan to install :) Used by some of the largest corporations out there. What I wanted to know was how would it fair with developers and small businesses as opposed to SQL Server.

SQL Server is a good database but I never ever would use it on a shared hosting plan. Oracle shines in having big databases and will not really give you a huge benefit on some lousy 150MB database. On top of that without having more access to Oracle so you can deply your J2EE developed procedures etc. it would not make much more sense. Lastly, if you staff has little or no experience, let it go, it can become a nightmare to support if you do not know the product very well.
