Encoding in the forum is ok once you configure the browser_page_encoding_inc.asp. However, I think an addition is required in the RTE_textarea.asp file to include:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=<% = strPageEncoding %>" />

At the momment it will not pick up the value of strPageEncoding so the encoding needs to be harcoded in RTE_textarea.asp in order for the RTE to work with unicode characters.

Looks like this may have been overloooked in that file.

I'll make the changes before the final release.

I am facing another problem with the encoding(?) of the forum. Yesterday I have setup my cats+forums which are labeled using greek characters. I've also posted a few messages using greek characters which were also looking fine.
However, when accessing the forum today all greek characters have been altered and not showing properly! Is there anything that would cause such thing to happen?

This sounds like it could be a server or database related issue.

Also check the encoding in your browser.

Hi borg, encoding in the browser is set to Greek Windows, the same as in the browser_page_encoding_inc.asp file.
This has occured before when testing previous versions... and each time i had to update the cats+forums names from the admin in order for the texts to display as they should.
But, I need to know what might be the cause of this issue as I dont want my forum to mess things up this way when it goes live. Forgot to mention it also messes up the characters in the posts....Confused

I don't much experience with other character sets, but I believe that database encoding can sometimes course issues as well as character sets that are installed on the web server.

Will it solve the problem if I just simply include

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=<% = strPageEncoding %>" /> line

In RTE_textarea.asp file? I don't want to wait until the final release.
