In the forum setup & configuration utility under the 'upload' section, go to the "file types" box and add your file extensions. Each file type must be separated by a semi-colon. Make sure the file types have the period before them.    (.doc;.zip;.pdf, etc.) I don't have a semi-colon trailing the last file type listed, so check that in case it makes a difference.
Remember to save the new configuration when you're done.

The problem is that file types in that list are not working

I was doing research on whether it was possible to extend the 2mb limit for file uploads and came across a number of support papers that refer to Windows Registry values. My system has no registry entries for AspSmartUpload, so I ran into a dead end. If your system does have the registry values, this key might be the one causing you trouble. If you don't have it in your registry either, I might consider trying to install it again. I had to do that once to get AspSmartUpload  to work properly after moving the forums to a new machine.

This is the Registry key you should check for:

Key :     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Advantys\aspSmartUpload
Value :  AllowedFilesList

Good Luck!

Have a look into MetaBase.xml for IIS that can allow you to extent the upload file size. Be careful though and make sure you backup your file first.

This might help you figure it out:

Ncriley,

Copy and paste what you have in the list in the admin section for allowable file types. Stone cutter is probably right that there may be a semicolon or dot somewhere that is screwing up the file type array.

I am using v9.06

Mine looks like this:
zip;rar;doc;pdf;txt;rtf;gif;jpg;png

This is not the problem. I had it working fine on 8 and upgraded to 9 and I am receiving the same error. There has to be a bug in the code.
