It may be more standards compliant, but doesn't still mean it's not full of bugs, which is the biggest problem with developing for the present version of IE.

I've been running Vista over a year at least 10 hours a day and yet to find a bug in it. However, SP1 will give Vista the same kernel as Windows Server 2008, and I must say I really like Windows 2008 especially IIS 7 which is around 30% faster, allot more secure, and simpler to copy IIS between servers.

Improved PHP support is also much better with better performance, I've even heard that PHP will run faster on IIS 7 than Apache, with the new FastCGI.

I have just downloaded IE 8 Beta 1 for Windows XP, to find that it's still disappointing. I know it's still in beta 1, but I think the stuff I'm seeing will remain even after beta testing and developers will have to struggle again to make it work. Among those disappointing bugs are the following:
  • My website's DHTML navigation menu is not functioning properly
  • WebWiz Forums Username drop down is not functioning at all:

  • Buttons like New Topic are not appearing like they should:
  • Page parts are shattered everywhere on some ASP.NET sites...

I must admith though, that IE 8 is 10 times faster than IE 7 (as of now). Another cool feature is the developer tool... the icons in the menu bar of IE 8 are also neat.

IE8 is probably going to steal all of its features and designs from other browsers... just like how Vista has the Mac look to it.

Yeah like there are so many different ways of doing it in the Browser world. Sure they look at competition, so does Firefox or do you think they come up with everything on their own?

As far as rendering problems go, they said in one of the videos, this version is geared for devs to code for IE8 but there is a IE7 rendering mode that you can turn on. Does it still render like that in that mode?
