The differences are so many that I'm really not going to list them, but think of it as the next improved version of classic ASP.
I heard Microsoft will not drop support for classic ASP for at least 5 years, but I have the feeling they will drop it in 2/3 years, maybe even releasing IIS 7 with no support for classic ASP at all.
I still use classic ASP because I have to deliver on time, no time to test, try, see if I can in ASP.NET, but sooner or later I have to make the jump (approaching the edge already).
