I started with ASP.NET for dummies and ASP.NET unleashed. The dummies book was good for the wuick onver view and simple examples - e.g. this is how you do post back, handle view state, update a db, eat a web service, etc.

ASP.NET unleased is really awsome. On my second copy - wore out the first. The author, Stephen Walther, is a regular at www.asp.net and wrote one of the starter kits. The book is just full of tips, tricks and examples ranging from simple to very sophistivatd.

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.
