ooouch!

I only built the machine and installed it a couple of weeks ago!! I'll have to give that one some thought, but will probably do it after I calm down from giving the thing few technical taps with my boot!

Thanks for the help and advice so far I'll get back to everyone with the result

if you're running SP2 don't forget to check and see if the Microsoft firewall is stopping you.

well in IE, you can have "friendly errors" which means if theres an error in your code, you wont get the asp error, you'll get "page cannot be found" this courses alot of new asp'ers to think the page ... cannot be found, but its just IE hidding it

you said you "unchecked" the option, that means it WAS hidding your error
you should have an error on your page now, i cant comment on the eggtimer or what not, as it might be part of your page.

post the error you get in the page

Hi

One last word on this subject then I'm done.

i am running McAfee's internet suite 7.1
I have just come off line with McAfee because as soon as i had re-installed all of the McAfee stuf my problem came back... there wasn't a problem with IIS 5.1 it was with McAfee's PRIVACY SERVICE and they could not resolve the problem with a twek I have had to upgrade the PRIVACY SERVICE to the latest version and without any changes to its setup IIS is now up and running.Tongue

So if anyone out there is running IIS 5.1 and McAfee Internet Suite 7.1 with Privacy Service and are suffering the problems i has the upgrade to the latest version of Privacy Service

You can get a 30 day free trial copy from their download site http://download.mcafee.com/us/eval/evaluate2.asp

Hope I have put a little back into the forum for the help I got out!

PS
can some turn sponge bob into an avitar for me!!!
