There are a million and one settings that affect character encodings, nailing down which one is causing the issue is a case of trial and error.

You say that both forums have the same modifications, but they both look very different, using different CSS, side panels, etc. These modifications are not the same and I suspect that the more likely reason is one of these is causing the issue.

We have carried out 100's of upgrades of version 9 to version 10 of forums hosting our own own network and not see any character encoding issues like this, so suspect that it is your modifications that are causing the issue.

To be honest there is little that can be done from our end as it's not a coding issue.

If the forum was hosted on our network we could have an engineer look at your forum, trying it with mods removed and added, checking the database and trying different data settings, trying different server settings for the web site, etc. until found the setting that is causing the issue.

As the web site is not hosted here and the issue is not a coding issue, it's a case of yourself making changes to your website and database settings and trying to remove mods etc. till you find the issue.

OK, never say I don't admit my own mistakes. Embarrassed

The problem WAS caused by my "fixing" things.

Everything is fine now.

Even got to keep my changes, just needed to tweak things a little.

Oh, and even Word comes over looking good!Thumbs Up

Thats good to hear. I Had a strong feeling it was to do with a modification made to the forums code.
