Wolf,
You should still be able to use the same Database..  But it would be best to upgrade though as newer things have been introduced and more securities have been implemented

MySQL is a better Database.. it is alot more smoother and runs alot better than SQL.. As for the Conversion I have a link below that might help you out with some information on how to do it... plus the best thing about it is that converter is free...

With Web Wiz Forums then you should use SQL Server 2005 or 2008.

mySQL is a good and can be faster than SQL Server, however do see database corruption issues with larger databases that are around 500MB or more in size. You also see backward compatibility issues with the myODBC driver which does tend to break things.

For this reason I would say go with SQL Server 2005 or 2008 which is more stable, can handle well over a million posts, and is fast.

You will also be able to attach your SQL Server 2000 database to SQL Server 2008 (all versions), or use a backup of your SQL Server 2000 database to restore it to SQL Server 2008.
