I am on the mysql setup page and it wants me to put a different user name and password to create the database that is different from the connection string. My hosting provider only allows the one user name and password for the database so I am unable to create the tables and such. Is there any way around this so I can continue with the install?

You can enter the same username and password in the setup tool. It only asks for a different one because sometimes hosts will give two usersnames, one for general use and a more relaxed one for creating and altering tables. In your case you only have the one set so just use that.

I had assumed the problem was I needed a different user ID and password. I keep getting this error when I try to create the tables in the empty database. I have double checked my connection string several times and know it is correct. I have several other mysql databases that work correctly so I'm not sure what is wrong.

Error Connecting to database on mySQL Server

Check the following is set up and correct:-

mySQL Server User Name
mySQL Server Password
Name of the mySQL Server
Database name set up by you on the server
Empty Database set up by you on the mySQL Server

Check also that you have entered the correct details in the file 'database_connection.asp' found in the 'database' directory.

Solved the problem Thanks for your help
