Nope, the emulate IE7 option still would not fix it.
Even the hotmail inbox page wouldn't load under IE8...
I remember one of Microsoft VP's of Marketing saying "obviously the world wasn't ready for Vista"... and someone responded saying: "Oh really, why wasn't Vista ready for the world?!"
Now the same applies to IE8...
I don't know who manages the development of IE at Microsoft, but that person or persons should have been replaced long time ago.

I think the "bugs" in vista are more to do with its compatability with certain software. Example: Spyware Doctor kept crashing it for me. Since I stopped the program from running no crashes!
Microsoft have to learn that they cannot have a complete monopoly over all software, and at least try to make their software work with other peoples software. On a positive note, I have become familiar with vista and I do like the way it displays, works, etc and I'm glad that I didn't give up and go backwards to XP
As far as browsers go, I use Firefox and have for quite a while now, because I personally find it unbloated like IE, and less prone to being slow and heavy handed. IE only comes into the equation when I click email links, otherwise Firefox for me is better, surperior and quicker

Just wanted to add a comment regarding the new updates to IE 8... The Beta 2 of IE 8 is awesome... compared to IE 7, IE 8 rocks! Some new features were added since beta 1 was released... some of the things I like in IE 8 are the ability to highlight specific word(s) and once highlighted an option appears from where you can select to search your default search engine for the term you highlighted. Another good thing is when a page crashes, other tabs will not be effected, and the tab that crashed recovers immediately. Rendering pages is much better than beta 1, but still has problems on some sites. There is also a button right next to the address bar called the compatibility mode... and if you're on a specific site that is not rendering properly you can click that button to display the site in compatibility mode. If you get a chance, especially if you use IE as your default browser, then I recommend that you download the beta version... You'll like it: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/beta/worldwide-sites.aspx

Firefox has had the highlight and search for ages - its become habit for me.
And I wouldn't recommend using a beta browser as your default, for obvious reasons.

No, don't... it was meant for people "who already" use IE as their default browser.
The comparison made was between IE 7 and IE 8... not Firefox and IE. I do like the spell checker in FF though...

Sorry, i dont understand what your saying. If people use IE as their default browser, then upgrading to IE8 (which i believe is still in beta) would start using IE8 as their default browser. It wouldn't matter to people who use FF or another browser as their default, as their daily browsing wouldn't be affected by having IE8.

You forgot that this forum is for web developers and designers. Beta software like IE8 Beta 2 targets this type of community, however people who don't deal with web design and development should stick to the most recent, stable/non-beta, browser of their choice.
