hiya ,
yeah i know the exact problem you have well, its because you are testing it on a parallel page to your normal forum, and the cookies confuse one another,i found that as soon as i had finished the testing and went live that all the problems dissapeared!

what do you mean by a parallel page? (as in how I am serving it locally to test it?)
I would like to serve it over a network... does this mean I will still have the same problem?
thanks for your advice

Hmmm,
Well I think my problem is server side.
I say this because I have no problems using these forums (the webwiz forums). I am also still unsure whether it is cookie related.
Will let you know if I work it out..

If anyone else has encountered these problems and worked out what was going on, please let me know

Try turning off any antivirus software, etc. on the server and see if that solves the problem.

The answer maybe???
The web server I am using is 'Abyss'. http://www.aprelium.com/abyssws/index.html
I am starting to think that maybe it doesn't support cookies properly. I won't know until I try another server in a few months.
I have tried turning off antiV, firewalls, etc..
So, there is a good chance that it COULD be my server
thanks for all your advice everyone

The forums don't work on Abyss, i've tried them on it before and had the exact same problem, you need to use IIS.
<edit> i don't think is the web server but the asp component, you can try to install a different component and see if it helps but i tried a few and it never worked.....i also tried to run them on Apache with the same components and never got them to work.......
