Ask your ISP about how your IP address works for the connection to your site, it could be using a NAT or some such thing. Anyway what ever the problem the error you got in Opera is proabbly the best clue to the problem, but I don't know what to suggest further, apart from get some web space from a hosting company with a full domain name.

Hi boRg,

I know now when members face the login problem (after more than 20 of my forum members faced it  )..

When anyone EDIT his/her profile, he/she can't login anymore!! They press on login icon, they enter their usersnames and passwords an unfortunately, they login as Guest!!

any advice?

Thanks in advance..

Khalid

I had this same exact problem with my own personal admin account and it was resolved (in IE 6) by deleting all the temporary internet files (sometimes hundreds of meg in size) and resetting the cookies.

Both of these can be done by the following path -

Tools > Internet Options > Delete Files

Tools > Internet Options > Delete cookies

The most important one is the first, making sure you delete all the temp files.  It worked for me and I was having the exact same problem - being able to log in successfully, but it logged me in as a guest.

Hi,

I tried Blade's suggestion, didn't solve it. I erased all temp. internet files even to local.service and network.service, but I still have the same problem.

I created a new account and when I logged in it was welcome guest again.

I have ADSL with fixed IP and registered domain name, and my forum was working w/o problems few weeks ago. And it's the same problem if I connect to my site using IP address.

help, help, help

Contact your ISP as they probally changed the way your static IP works and so IE now can't correctly set cookies.

Hi,

Thank you Blade for your replay.. I've tried your suggestion but it didn't work..

dear boRg, if I register a new username it work properly.. ONLY if I edit my profile I login as guest.. I mean in the first case IE creates the cookies perfectly.. the problem rise after the editing.

Thank you for your pationt..

Khalid
