Topic: Major Upgrade Posted: 09 December 2009 at 2:21am |
Hello all,
Ok I need some help on an major upgrade, I recently took over as web administrator for a car club and it is running wwf 7.9 and I take it they paid for their version years ago. My question is if I upgrade to the new version will my 7.9 database work with the new 9.64 ver, From what I know all the member info and all the post and PM's are stored in the database, correct? Another thing is I take it that all the stuff like the calendar and the number of PM's all stay the same.
Also was ASPChat integration into the form, will the old code for that work or is there a new one code for that to work with 9.64. I tried to look on aspchatnow.com/ but is pending renewal an deletion.
I am a complete noob to this and do not want to screw of the site trying to upgrade it, Would any one happen to have a old 7.9 so I can test and try to do this. Thanks for any help.
Kevin

Upgrading is very simple as there is a setup/install wizard that upgrades the database for you, all you need to do is remove the old files for the forum and replace them with the new ones, keeping your old database and if you allow members to upload pictures keeping the old upload folder. The page below has documentation on upgrading which explains it more fully:- http://www.webwiz.net/webwizforums/kbAspChatNow is available from the link below:- http://www.aspinvision.com/aspchatnow/

Not if you are using one of the free editions. However, if you want to use one of the paid editions then you would need to contact sales and accounts to findout if you have a license and what type:- http://www.webwiz.net/contact/

As Bruce has pointed out in his post above you need to contact sales who will be able to answer the question as they will have a record of when this version was purchased. You need to CONTACT SALES who will be able to assist you.

I'll have to try get the info of the previous web administrators they had and from the owner, Not sure what info is needed. I'll try to get a hold of sales.
