I will not go back to XP, at work I have to for now until they upgrade us but at home I use the pc 95% for non-games so it does not matter for me if some games do not work as well. I have come to find out that most of my frustration with MS lately is with their Hardware. I have a webcam from them (Lifecam) which I bought because they had 64bit drivers, it is a pile of junk I might say. I always had a cheapo Logitech and it worked much better. MS should stick to SW I think, their HW just aint cutting it.

Has Vista improved in the last couple of months?
I upgraded to Vista a while back and was forced back to XP because of a lack of driver support, system crashed a lot and just to many bugs all around. I did however like the interface of Vista so I have been wanting to upgrade once again.

I've never had driver issues with Vista, and I have it running on 4 machines.
I also can not recall the last time it crashed, and find it just a stable as XP if not more so.
If there are bugs in Vista I've never seen one, and I have been running it since January on my workstation which I use most days for 12 hours.

I wonder why I received so many problems.
Did anyone else have any connection issues?
One of the issues I had was that when I locked my computer and logged back in, the internet connection would no longer work. I would have to reboot the computer in order to connect to the internet again.

Mine has not crashed since January, no driver problems, runs quicker, networking is easier, new sound stack is far superior.
I guess you just an unlucky person Javi :p

Actually it is surpisingly faster this time. When i bought my laptop it had vista preinstalled on it, but was slow... now that i took it off and installed my own copy of Vista, it runs much better... this indicates that whatever garbage the manufacturer installed was the cuase behind it being slow.
For now however, I still face one minor issue with it... I cannot get the sound stereo mix to work... like when you go to a chatroom and try to play music so others could hear it.. i can't get that mixer to work.. it is so seamless with XP... but can't seem to find a solution for it on Vista... it's really fraustrating!

Well, if you think about it, the only reason for any home consumer to buy Vista is either because they have no choice because its already installed on the PC they bought, or all the new games require DX10 and Vista.
Other than that, if someone is only looking for the basic functionality of word processing, surfing, e-mailing and chatting, it seems more reasonable to either stick with W2K Pro, XP home or pro, or simply switch to a Linux distribution for FREE.
I could've made the switch to Linux a long time ago, but only reason I didn't was because I was learned ASP and IIS in school. I simply did not want to learn PHP and Apache. But now, I may convert and tell Bill to kiss my very beautiful back side.

Working with many average home users i can tell you now that most of them don't have a clue how to properly work Windows and don't have a clue that Linux exists. I can't see any swapping to a Linux distro it's hard enough to get them to swap IE for Firefox P.S. I've got a rather stunning backside too
