Topic: Mobile users cannot view YouTube videos on 10.13 Posted: 04 December 2012 at 6:24am |
Forum users have lost their ability to view YouTube videos on their mobile devices when browsing the forum. Is there something I have to do on my end to fix this?
So far, I have two users on iOS devices that are having this issue (iPhone/iPad).

That is the problem with Apples walled garden where only what they want will run. Apple do not support Flash so no embedded YouTube videos, no image uploading, no WYSIWYG Editor, it's a very limited platform.

Thats odd as most people said that it was not working on 10.12 also.
Web Wiz Forums uses the standard IFrame code that YouTube provide for embedding YouTube videos in to a website.
The only difference is that if you have the EU Cookie Directive Compliance enabled the link is to the non cookie domain for YouTube, youtube-nocookie.com, instead of their main domain youtube.com. I did read that youtube-nocookie.com may have problems with IOS as it uses Flash and not HTML 5 for YouTube videos.

Actually, my mistake... I skipped 10.12, didn't have that update... I went from the previous update 10.11 or whatever before 10.12 and went directly to 10.13.... If that makes any difference.

If you are not worried about complying with the UK/EU law on Cookies you can turn off the EU Cookie compliance from the admin area.
The embedded YouTube videos will use the YouTube.com domain for the IFrame instead which I believe will then use HTML 5 instead of Flash that is used on the non cookie youtube-nocookie.com domain.
The problem is that Apples walled garden only works with what Apple want, and Flash unfortunately is one of many things Apple refuse to allow on their devices

Yup... I have that turned off, and last night I logged in to make sure that it was turned off. I just double checked:
