Version 10 already includes an option to list the Latest Posts on the home page of your forum.

It should be enabled by default if not you can enabled it from the admin area of your forum.

What if we want it on our home page - and not the forum's own front page?
For example:
http://theamcforum.com
the index page used to show topics (now it's just the coming up events on our calendar).
Since it's not part of the forum, we embedded code from a kind member here.
I assume you aren't referring to the same thing??

The ASP code to include forum posts on another page or web site is located in the Web Wiz Forums Extras folder that comes with web wiz forums.

I have the latest posts there but want to put it back to latest topics like we had before with the mod Bruce.  Currently we just see one popular topic would swamp the list and clicking it goes to the OP rather than the latest post.

As SunnySteve points out, my mod works differently to the one included with WebWizForums V10. This one will only display a topic once, rather than several times if the last posts were concentrated on one topic

Also (I haven't tested it properly yet so cannot confirm) but I am not sure that the default 'Latest Posts' displays topics based on Permissions (the one in the Extras folder of V9 only worked on the RSS feed, which is basically Guest permissions only). This one how ever will display all posts that the visitor has permissions to see, and hides posts that they do not have permissions to see.

I will look more closely at what the default V10 'latest posts' feature offers and will report back (unless Bruce beats me too it). I was concerned that there may not be any interest in this mod as one is included with the forum, how ever if there are enough differences to warrant it (and of course demand) I will upgrade it to V10.

As for Bill3's original post - The mod as not been tested on V10, so I can not confirm that it will work. How ever I currently have it running on the home page of website(S2H.co.uk) and it seems to be working fine with V10. So you should be able to continue to use this mod outside of the forum its self.

If you want to see a comparison between this modification and the default forum one you can see my support forum here, just look at that a long side the home page.

For anyone else who wishes to use this mod over the default forum one then please post here or on my support forum so I can work out the demand for it.

hey scotty32 add us to the list of those wanting to see a topic just one time since at times we have machine-gun discussions on a hot topic, and it could end up the whole "most recent 10" be all the same topic at times.
Maybe that could be an option for one or the other.
"Click this box if you want a topic displayed just one time in the most recent posts, otherwise it will take them in order"
Maybe if it's not already so, make the number of "most recent" be selectable as well - 5, 7, 10
OK, maybe not...........

My mod already let's you pick how many topics you wish to display.

It is in the file you include on your homepage.

It will show half as many for mobile uses.
