problems with ipods - too expensive vs. the value they offer
- not full fledge like other in the market
- more of a fashion item than a gadgets / practical / geeks thing
- nano's are delicate like japanese tea sets
- plug them in car stereo and they sounds like sh1t
- do no record sound.
- supplied head phones suck
- invite lot of theives if left on car dash
- Does not support WMA which is a big dissapoint since my elcheapo $30 128MB USB flash dish supports MP3/WMA
- the control dial is not utilized sensibly, otherwise more controls could be built into it.

I have to agree, the iPods are nothing but an expensive fad for technology challenged people.
People that dont know much about MP3 players go out and buy a iPod just because its expensive and they think its the best because of the price.
If you do some research on MP3 players you can get a MP3 player that has pictures/color display, sound recorder, and fm tuner all in 1 for half the price of a iPod. Ive been looking at them for the past month for my gf for xmas, but since i have no money all ive done is look and no buying
I personaly like my PSP. It has Video, Sound, Pictures, and Games and they all kick ass. The only down side is the memory cards are small and expensive (2GB=$180)

Have to disagree here!
I have a 40GB iPod and really like it.
The supplied headphones are fine for average users, but your not buying headphones your buying an digital music player.
The controls, click wheel etc I think does the job extremely well. It's not a gimmick IMO, it's a unique way to browse and it works really well.
Your right, iTunes does suck ass, but you don't have to use it. There are alternatives!
My iPod has been through a lot, it isn't delicate! The nano however, well yes that is a chinamans tea set. But, it's a tradeoff between size and delicacy. It is the smallest one out there of it's storage capacity. If you want the smallest, get the nano but just be aware it is delicate.
For me WMA support is not an issue as all my music is wav/mp3, but I can see this is an issue for some people. Most people have Mp3 collections anyway, so it's not a problem.

I bought an iPod Nano a little over a week ago and so far it seems ok. My iPod Nano first impressions are here.
I'll follow up once I form a better opinion.
I bought it so that I can test iTunes music with it for a future version of my software. Yeah - weak excuse but it works for me ~!
One of the things I like is the small size.

What headphones you using with them? I got some Hd590's which are pretty old now, but are great quality. My brother has some HD595's which sound even better as well! But for the average user, the buds are fine IMO. If I could afford it these would be top of my list: Triple drivers in each one! You have to send them an ear impression so they can custom make it to fit your ears. It's the dogs bollocks of in ear sound apparently, but not cheap at just under $1000!
