Borg, to get on some of the global white lists for AOL, Yahoo!, MSN, etc. a website must record the IP address people used when they signed up on the website (because signing up enables features such as e-mail notification). Currently WWF does not do this, it only records the IP address of when they post, meaning WWF websites do not qualify to get on some of these global white lists.

It's a shame that no-one mentioned this before version 8 was released.
This will mean that such a feature will have to wait for version 9 as it would require a database change to support such a feature.

Could you possibly release it as a 'service pack' for version 8, with a file to update the database occordingly?

Possibly.
I have started reading a book on DotNetNuke, after having an email from one of the developers over there, and I have got some ideas from it on making the install and update process much smoother.
So I am planning on creating a whole new install/update process for Web Wiz Forums, which will also allow database schema updates between minor versions, which I have always avoided before in the past.

Would it be possible to make it so that the IP address of the
registered user is sent to the admin in the activation email? I think
that would be a very effective measure since the admin can easily check
the location that the IP is coming from. Since nothing is permanently
stored, it shouldn't require any database changes.
Another idea that doesn't involve a database change is to make an
automated bot user that automatically posts the IPs of new users in a
designated forum post. For example, every time a user registers, the
bot automatically updates a post in the moderators' forum. That way,
all of the new information are stored in forum posts and hence would
not require any database changes. (Although this is far more complex than the idea above)

This is a very simple change and I have just added to the admin activation email for the next version.

If it's currently set for Admin to activate accounts, can't you just not active them / delete them?
If the usernames are showing up in the stats, even when they haven't been activated, maybe some coding needs to be put into place so the stats only show activated members. |
Yes I can delete them but I don't even want them to show up! Sometimes I don't get a chance to view my forum for 24 hours to take care of it and that offensive nick will be on the stat at the bottom of the forum for that tim and it annoys others who visit the forum.

Will that take too long to finish and be released?
