this is a little embasassing since I already have one instance of Newspad up and running.
The probelm is that I can't get past this error. I go to the admin.asp page, enter the default username and password then click the clo in button. I'm taken to the "Upgrade to Premium Editon" page just fine but when I click on the button to "Continue to Admin Control Panel" I get the following:

That error is generated by NewsPad, not the server, and its not from a real error.

Check to make sure you have Cookies and Session Cookies enabled.

All cookies are accepted. Same error in IE and FF. Yes, I realise it's not an actual error.

It could be the URL to your using to login. Is the server hosted on your computer or another computer?

It's a site that's still under development, hence the long url

That could well be the problem due to the way the site is setup on the development server and the long URL, it could be that browsers have issues setting and reading back in cookies.

If it is the exact same issue as the original poster in this topic it would be down to the way your site sets cookies, not the browser.

This issue is often coursed if your site is not setup in the standard way by your web host, so when NewsPad creates a cookie it sets the path for the cookie which it gets from the server. If the cookie can not set the correct path it can not then read back in the cookie.

One thing you could try is setting the cookie to the root instead of using a path. To do this edit the file includes/setup_options_inc.asp in notepad and uncomment (remove single quote (')) the  following line:-

'strCookiePath = "/"

I was getting the same error and the above workaround corrected the error.
